Choosing an Auspicious Wedding Date

A wedding is the union of two people who decide to spend their lives together and to share their joys and alleviate each other’s difficulties at all times. Many questions come to mind once a man or a woman proposes marriage to his / her partner. These questions include when, where, and how the wedding should take place.

The most important of all these questions is when the wedding should take place because the other things depend on this. There are various methods employed by couples to select an ideal date of their wedding.

Many of them have a location in mind when they think of their wedding. Such couples may select their wedding date by setting some tentative dates and then checking with the availability of the venue for those dates. Some may even decide their wedding date depending on the availability of certain services that they would want for their wedding e.g.: the availability of a particular church, a certain priest, etc.

Some of them may select their wedding date based on some important days in their life. This may be something like the date on which they met or some significant date that they would like to cherish throughout their life. Some also finalize their wedding dates on important days in the calendar such as New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, etc.

Few of them may also select their wedding date keeping in mind the comfort of their near and dear ones, and to a certain extent, their guests’ also. They may discuss with their friends and relatives to check on whether it coincides with any important events and then opt for something appropriate for everybody. Couples may also try to set the wedding date to fall on a weekend such that it does not disturb the work schedules of their guests.

They may also select the date keeping in mind certain ambiance that they would like to have for their wedding. Every person has certain desires about his/her wedding and may involve certain set ideas that they may want to project during their wedding, for e.g. an outdoor wedding by the lake- such an idea is difficult to execute during the winter, when it is too cold outdoors and the lake may be frozen. So if the couple has some such ideas for their wedding, they should select an apt date, when it is permissible to allow it to come to fruition.

There are still many couples, who may take up the consultation of astrologers and numerologists to help them choose an auspicious date for their wedding. These people use the birth dates of the pair to help them in selecting a proper date, on which their wedding vows are to be solemnized.
